History/Overview
When Ram introduced an all-new 1500 pickup in 2019, it carried forward the outgoing model as the 1500 Classic, which sticks around for 2021 with no major changes.
Available Trims
The Ram 1500 Classic comes in ST, Express, SLT, Night Edition, and Warlock trim levels. A 3.6L V6 is standard in all trims, and a 5.7L V8 is the option. Both come with an eight-speed transmission. Rear-wheel drive is standard, and four-wheel drive is available. Regular-, quad- and crew cab configurations are on offer.
Standard Features
ST trim comes with 17-inch wheels, power-adjustable side mirrors with heat, black bumpers, auto on/off headlights, vinyl floors, cruise control, a six-speaker stereo, power locks, air conditioning, a tire pressure monitor, trailer wiring, and a locking tailgate.
Express adds alloy wheels, body-colour bumpers, carpeted floors, keyless entry, and fog lights.
SLT gets chrome bumpers, a 5.0-inch touchscreen display, power-sliding rear window, Bluetooth, and a USB charging port.
Night Edition brings 20-inch black wheels and black trim elements, body-colour rear bumper and front upper fascia, and an 8.4-inch touchscreen.
The Warlock package gets upgraded rear shocks, LED taillights, leather steering wheel trim, LED fog lights, and rear parking sensors.
Key Options
Ram will let you dress up the 1500 Classic with a selection of option bundles. One of them packages a heated steering wheel and heated seats together.
A luxury group gets auto-dimming mirrors, digital gauge display, power-folding side mirrors, LED bed lighting, and a garage door remote.
You can also add navigation to trucks with the 8.4-inch infotainment screen, and there’s a seven-speaker Alpine sound system available at the high end of the range.
A trailer towing group has larger side mirrors and a trailer brake controller.
Fuel Economy
Like the rest of the truck, the Ram 1500’s fuel consumption estimates carry over for 2021. They are 13.9/9.6 L/100 km (city/highway) with the 3.6L/RWD, and 14.5/10.2 L/100 km with 4WD. Trucks with the 5.7L engine are rated 15.7/11.0 L/100 km (city/highway) with RWD, and 16.2/11.6 L/100 km when equipped with 4WD.
Competition
The 1500 Classic leaves the tough task of competing with the Ford F-150, Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra to Ram’s newer pickup design. Instead, consider the Ram 1500 Classic as a more affordable alternative to the segment’s second-tier trucks, the Toyota Tundra and Nissan Titan.
